Ridabug - Gives you back the Outdoors

The 8w UV black light combined with the water in the tray attracts the insects, the fan pushes them down into the tray of soapy water to drown.

Bulbs: There are two different bulbs we use in the Ridabug. Both bulbs will attract the insects but by using the appropriate bulb it will be more efficient . The BL (black light) will attract the mosquitoes and moths better and the BLB (black light blue) will attract the sandflies and midges better.

Set up: Fill the tray with water and a squirt of detergent (equal to about 2 teaspoons) or use our Mozzie Brew which is a powerful added attractant. Insert the tray into the Ridabug. Turn on. Leave the unit on 24hrs a day for at least one month to break the breeding cycle, then if you wish you can turn it off through the day but turn on again late afternoon and run till mid morning.

Position: Ideally place the Ridabug away from where you are sitting outdoors and shine the light towards you. This will draw the insects away from you. The Ridabug can be mounted to a tree, fence, wall etc or sat on a flat surface. It is weatherproof and comes with a 4.6m weatherproof transformer.

Use: Empty the tray every couple of days, add fresh water (remember the water is part of the attractant) and detergent. The detergent or brew must be added to the water to break the water surface tension or the insects will bounce off. Empty the tray onto the garden, it’s good compost or feed it to the wildlife, chooks etc they love it.

Accessories: To run on a battery eg. car battery for camping, there is a 5m cigarette lighter adaptor lead and a 5m lead with aligator clips to clip straight on to the battery.
Replacement bulbs, lens cover, reflector etc are always available.
